Basic Information
Player Nickname: Reyna.
Profile URL: roleplay.chat/profile.php?user=Starling
Player Feedback?: Appreciated.
Realist Reference: El Wood.
Namesake: Evelyn Crawford.
Alter Ego: Starling.
Current Age: Twenty-three.
Birthdate: January 17th.
Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Height/Weight: 5'4'' - 118 lbs.
Hair/Eyes: Dark Sienna - Hazeulnut.
Physique: Evelyn retains a figure capable of enduring the physical demands any adventurer amongst the streets of Gotham City must withstand; gracefully toned in order to perfect acrobatic feats alongside exceptional swiftness of foot, while simultaneously maintaining a curved and athletically-conducted build in anticipation of anything from combat on the streets to combat between the sheets. She’s a bombshell with a nice ass who is also highly knowledgeable in the art of kicking ass.
Training: Hand to hand Combatant; ranging from the most traditionally-based, austere forms of Martial Arts ( Taekwondo, Bando Thaing, Jujitsu, Karate, etc. ) to nitty, gritty, free for all, no barriers street fighting.
Marksmanship; enabled with a keen eye and instinctual ability to handle any firearm, blade, or otherwise with adept skill.
Mental/Physical Endurance; the young woman has been guided into the harshest forms of instruction in order to amplify the pain she can undertake in regards to both the physical state of her being and the mental state of her psyche. She remains human and is therefore susceptible to stronger/supernatural influences, but otherwise both her threshold for physical and emotional stimulation are impeccable. And rather essential given the criminals she crosses paths with on a daily basis.
Scholarly Applications; although she often ridicules structured academics, such as schooling and government-burdened education, Evelyn manages a fairly decent IQ that is readily disposed through her curiosity about the world and how it works. Sitting throughout the numerous lecture halls and courses alike to achieve her degrees were a blur and a bore intertwined, however, the brunette shows enthusiasm regarding knowledge taught through experience and worldly tutoring. She remains intuitive and bright enough to assimilate herself back into the more challenging fields of intellect should she feel the inclination, but prefers keeping to hands on learning by valuing the lessons to be taught out in the real world. She is also known for her strategic mastery, and is often called upon should her skills be required in a take-down or on other vigilante missions, etc, etc.
Adaptability; crime-fighting has never been a craft built on pattern and repetition. The situations often fluctuate, dependent on the miscreant, surroundings, and other variant factors which often play in. Therefore Evelyn underwent the tutelage of 'adaptability', the intensive focus and know-how to work any unfamiliar setting/terrain into her advantage. Very handy-dandy.
Mercenary Background; willing to kill? check. Has murdered before in order to make profit while simultaneously saving another person's life? Check. Evelyn, before affiliating herself with the Birds of Prey or any other type of crime-fighting organization, learned to master the art of killing. Although heavily romanticized with the ideal of saving every person's life, Evelyn realized such wasn't a possible reality, that in order to save the good people she needs to know how to properly take out the bad guys. So she became quite versatile in this trade by learning how to attach to a target, stalk them for months on end before finally taking care of the issue quickly, efficiently; quietly. No fingers pointed, no brows raised at her person, no questions asked. She also retains the knowledge of immediate hunting, using whatever means it takes to murder them; bold, messy, dealt with.
Equipment:
~ Preference towards Smith & Wesson 9mm semi automatics.
~ Nightvision goggles, Starling costume with all its affects.
Description
Appearance: Bare in the flesh Evelyn possesses the average look of most young woman her age, with a few modifications such as a tattoo sleeve that inks up onto the curve of her neck, and scars marring her body here and there -- collected from her early age of crime-fighting and beyond. When transitioned into her Alter Ego, Starling, the brunette is known to don a buttoned-up, darkly-schemed corset with a single strap looping around her shoulders. ( She also always keeps her unruly tresses tied up in a ponytail when conducting 'work'. ) Adding to this are the counterpart sleek, formfitting faux leather leggings that immediately bridge off into black combat boots. From black trappings to a lovely midnight shade of violet, Evelyn seeks to succeed in stealth and unseen movements while also keeping to her sobriquet origins, since Starling birds are known for their dark shading along with muted dabbles of lively coloring upon their feather palette. When out of 'uniform' Evelyn subconsciously dresses herself in fairly vibrant clothing styles, mentally unaware that she is differentiating herself and her Alter Ego entirely. Work comes in the same dark, elegant outfit, maintained with the newest and subtle technology to ensure less damage to the girl beneath it, while her civilian apparel is often modern, bright, and exuberant of taste that speak both of her wealthy status and carefree persona.
Personality: Evelyn Crawford has always maintained a dauntless, carefree charisma. The woman is erratically driven in result of her passionate adoration for humanity. Although often acclaimed for her strategic brilliance, optimistic principles, and impressive combat skills, Evelyn continuously struggles with a nasty temper that flares often and without any discernible pattern. Conscientious of her flaws, she focuses her energies into Starling and protecting the world she loves. Determined to act without self-interest Evelyn is known for pushing herself to her limits, to the point of breaking simply in name of testing what is out of her reach and what isn't; who she is able to save and who she can't. Coming from a background that offered the brunette everything she sought after and more, she dismantles herself in the daily challenges and difficulties that her profession presents. Stubborn in her ways, she hasn't been able to shake this nearly self-destructive, yet selfless pattern of hers. She is a girl driven by more heart than logic, with sparse and fleeting moments of desire to rectify this. She enjoys her unpredictable lifestyle because at the end of the day she is putting forth effort into making the world a better place.
Significant Relationships
Mom and Pop: When her parental influence is called into memory Evelyn is greeted by the image of a raven-haired, dark-eyed couple of both affluence and warmheartedness, an odd combination most wouldn't find tucked away in the household of Upper Gotham socialites well adept in the business world and integrated effortlessly into the political scheme of the dark city. But that's what they always represented in front of their daughter, Evelyn Alison Crawford, an only child from birth up to date. They were a source of comfort, freedom and security. Naturally when Evelyn began on her rebellious years, well, there wasn't a whole lot to rebel against. Her curiosity with the world simply broadened and in return her parents catered to this reckless yearning of hers. Not much changed upon the brink of adulthood and the several years proceeding it. Evelyn continues to flourish in the turbulent lifestyle she created for herself and her parents don't bat an eye, simply appeased with the idea that their only child is content with the life she has built.
Black Canary/Dinah Lance: Working undercover on a mission can certainly offer the possibility of friendship, and it most certainly did between Black Canary and Starling upon their mutual work regarding the Penguin. They both went their separate ways upon completion of the mission but remained on good terms, and upon the beginning of the second 'Birds of Prey' affiliation Dinah contacted Evelyn first with the proposition of joining their efforts to make one combined team admix with skill, power, and badassery. Although relatively similar or close to the same age Black Canary has always offered a highlight of instruction to the seeking Starling, and a bond developed where Evelyn easily fell into the role of apprenticeship. Her time within the Birds of Prey and spent around Dinah gained her new perspective on protecting others and keeping the world safe. Black Canary plays an important role in Evelyn's assurance of her own Alter Ego, Starling, and has influenced her in many ways.
Mister Freeze/Victor Fries: A cunning, ruthless manipulator who manages to break down even Starling's best defenses. A man she holds distrust for deep within her bones, only time will tell just how dangerous he actually is. ( Because I plan to write Starling still active within the Birds of Prey affiliation she has yet to betray them to Mister Freeze, so I am hesitant to expand on how he directly affects her character until I reach that development via RP or otherwise. )
Lady Blackhawk/Zinda Blake: One of the best aviators known to Starling, Lady Blackhawk is a woman confident in her knowledge of crime-fighting and ambitious with her ideals of how the world should work. She offers entertaining company and formidable partnership when doubled up on Birds of Prey missions together. Lady Blackhawk commandeers a charismatic brilliance that Starling is naturally drawn to, finding an easy companionship that has flown without interruption enough since they first met. She holds admiration for the other’s prowess when it comes to vigilante badassery, taking pointers whenever she can and slipping easily into the role of comradery with Zinda when not working at missions or other Birds of Prey assignments. She’s a pretty neat gal.
Oracle/Barbara Gordon: Starling gets along pretty well with this one, who couldn’t when Oracle employs such a bubbly, lively personality to be around? Evelyn makes friends easy enough, its allowing them into her circle of trust that seems to offer a near impossible feat. And, yet, nearly within the first month of working with Oracle in the Birds of Prey affiliation Starling found herself drawn to the cheerfully dictated optimism this other had hanging over her like a cape. They became friends quickly and Starling considers her to be one of the few people that know more intimate details of Evelyn's personal life. Not only are they work associates but Starling feels highly protective over the other, a near sisterly bond, and puts forth much effort into ensuring that Barbara is happy. She also finds that any mission usually becomes ten times as entertaining if Oracle is partnered up with her since Starling values her combatant talents and strategic ploys, thinking she makes a wonderful vigilante and an even better friend.
Huntress/Helena Wayne: Since first joining the Birds of Prey through Black Canary’s invitation, Starling regards the Huntress with a slight rhythm of both fondness and bemusement, adding in a slight factor of intimidation. Helena is one of the fiercest, passionate vigilantes Evelyn has yet to meet, and she holds bountiful respect for the woman. They remain on good terms yet Starling gets the feeling that there is much more that lies beyond the surface of Huntress, possibly something that is compiled of pain or speaks towards a darker time in Helena’s life. Starling often attempts to understand the female further, hoping that she will one day open up about her past so they might be rewarded with a closer friendship. Yet, Evelyn remains hesitant to push any of Helena’s buttons about her past. Because when this woman’s temper flares up… damn, even Starling makes certain to stick clear of her during these moments. All in all, she enjoys the company of Helena and never fails to learn something or another when sent on a mission with Huntress, a worthy mentor in the same way Black Canary means to her.
Poison Ivy/Pamela Isley: Starling’s feelings towards this one have always been an ambiguous complexity of affection and severe dislike. She’s known to moniker the red-headed beauty ‘Tossed Salad’ in a subtle, hostile-intended manner. She is suspicious of Pamela’s true motives given her background in criminal activity. Although Starling is far from perfect, having quite a few government warnings alike on her record, she fails to offer empathy towards Poison Ivy’s plight. She still is under the belief that the red-haired vixen is playing double-agent. But, that doesn’t entirely exclude the possibility of warmth between the two on rare occasions. Starling is almost impossibly childish at times, provoking Pamela’s attention for the sake of annoyance. She is beginning to accept the woman’s regular appearance in her vigilante lifestyle but is hesitant to fully trust her. Time will tell if their relation can fully mend into friendship or if it will shatter completely beneath the weight of Starling’s doubts.

”Please make certain your seatbelts are buckled; the flight will be landing in Gotham International Airport within the next twenty minutes. Please turn off all electronic devices and remain seated until we are completely grounded. We hope you enjoyed your flight and look forward to your next visit using our air flight services. Thank you and have a great day.”
Evelyn Crawford flickers her hazelnut gaze upward, darkened that it was from the brief, fidgety sleep she managed from Tel Aviv, Israel back to Gotham City, it took her but a moment to readjust into the present. Oh, yes, this was her last flight that would land her straight back into the heart of Gotham. The singsong allure of travel often carted off a willing Evelyn to the many corners of the earth, a vacation bestowed upon her monthly in order to escape the chaotic tatters of a messy world still remaining in Gotham City. The problem was that despite her best efforts Evelyn kept coming back, continuously drawn to aforementioned messy world of Gotham City, thusly her voyages were kept short in duration beneath the heavy promise that she would soon return to her beloved, disorderly home. And, ah, her plane was just now skimming along the highway airstrip, a bumpy landing offering an ironic overshadow of what fate might have in store for Evelyn upon her return. But, hey, she was and always would be game for any challenge. She lived for it.
Provisions acquired from the luggage station Evelyn navigated the airport maze of terminals and transit lounges until she stepped out onto the muggy streets, flagging down the nearest taxi she deposited both herself and her suitcases into the cab, directing the nondescript, cigar puffing driver to the nearest subway station in which to ferret her directly to her apartment nestled comfortably in the renovated Cathedral Square within the Old Gotham district. Slipping from the crowded subway transportation Evelyn paused momentarily to intake the city streets she missed following her absence. Its beauty was hidden in layers of suspicion, broody weather and rampant criminal activity. Even now, in the peak of afternoon’s daylight where all city life was out and about amongst the streets of Gotham, the people held over exaggerated caution to their persons. Purses were clutched as tightly as their owners wound up demeanors, businessmen kept their hats tipped forward in effort to keep their faces down and eyes forward. Even the kids seemed a tad agitated when in actuality they should be the most carefree occupants of these streets. Evelyn sighed, beginning to cross the street and walk a block up to where her apartment was located. She desired, hungered for, change. Pressing in the code to her apartment building Evelyn allowed one more glance to the Gotham terrain behind her before slipping inside, the door and bolts slamming into a locked state in her wake.
Not even hours after settling into her agreeable, warmly decorated abode the city sirens resounded throughout the nearby surroundings, normally these were a background noise, ever present but apt to be zoned out given time. However, these specific blaring noises sounded within close proximity. Sorted and eager to slip back into the game Evelyn switched her light peachy sheer blouse for dark-button inlaid and midnight violet striped corset, exchanging her laced, flowery print skirt in favor of her faux leather leggings that afforded every inch of her sun-kissed legs an amount of coverage while giving her easy range access to move about in, and finally she slipped out of her Saint Laurent bow-detail flats for her scratched up combat boots. Tying her unruly dark sienna tresses up into a high ponytail Evelyn was off. Although she didn’t directly broadcast her involvement in the crime fighting aspect of Gotham, she neither went to extreme measures of covering up her identity. Therefore, no mask was needed. The purr of her Evo motorcycle accelerated into life and in tune with the engine’s roar Evelyn completely dismantled herself into the persona of Starling. ”Let’s get ‘em!” And then she was off, tearing into the darkening streets, anticipation draping over her vigilante persona, eager to lose herself to the adventure of protecting the streets of Gotham by saving the lives of those in danger.

Equipment:
~ Preference towards Smith & Wesson 9mm semi automatics.
- affords her the punch and accuracy that she loves feeling when pulling the trigger of a firearm.
- enabled with twin smith & wessons. one a complete midnight black, the other of silver markings.
~ Nightvision goggles, Starling costume with all its affects.
- although the material looks like a simple corset/legging/combat booted affect it's components are made of much more worthy material. The corset is assembled with thin steel plating beneath the thin strips of midnight violet lace, the clothing is often repaired but the steel has never required more than working out a few dents. Her corset has seen the hospitality of incoming knives and bullets while remaining intact and protecting Starling's more important organs from any devastating injuries. As for the buttons on her corset they are often replaced given that, by a few nights of tinkering, they had been concocted into gas pellets, sometimes bomb pellets. It all depends. They were designed in such a way that only Starling know the correct way to set them off, they fail to release by the simple force of pressure. This keeps her safe so that they don't go off if she falls against something wrong. And they've proven quite useful. Her leggings aren't made of steel but rather a thickly entwined fiber made to ensure nothing gets caught onto it. Blades will defect, bullets may cause a bit of bruising on the bearer, but overall the material keeps her flesh safe from detrimental harm while in combat. Her semi automatics are holstered on either side of her chest for easy access. Nothing special about her combat boots. Huh. Maybe it's time for a shoe upgrade soon.
