Description
Appearance: A black silhoette of the bat symbol on her lower back spreading just a few inches shy of hip to hip. The tattoo is considerable well-hidden most of the time unless her shirt pulls up slightly and it stands at a good three inches tall and about eight inches wide.
Attire- Barbara has always stuck to the colors of Batgirl the most, dressing herself in grays, black, and gold. She dons the colors often, even coordinating her makeup with them because she's so very proud to wear the bat over her chest and fight as she's always wanted to. If she is not wearing these colors, she will wear a dark green or red from time to time, excentuating her vibrant red hair and hazel eyes. Babs is most comfortable in slightly baggy sweat pants when she's at the computer, and usually a lacey camisole top that she tends to sleep in if not a slightly over-sized t-shirt with some kind of logo or quirky saying on it. She hates being barefoot and so is usually wearing socks. She also very much likes to dress in layers, wearing a black camisole under a low-cut yellow top and such. If she's not in sweat pants, she tends to like a good, comfortable pair of dark blue or black jeans and the occasional short skirt.
Personality: Barbara has always been rather outgoing, chasing after gymnastics, self-defense classes, martial arts, and computer courses, as well as making quite a few friends and going out now and again. She likes the feeling of being free, able to roam as she pleases and looking after herself and those around her. Often she enjoys a movie night, dinner with friends, or just spending the day playing board games. She also has a quieter side that keeps her working hard at the computer to further her tech. Barbara has an almost compulsive need to work on her devices every day, finding it both soothing and helpful as well as providing better services in the future.
A quick-wit and optimistic outlook is what's often carried by the Batgirl, and her wit, though she's quite proud of it, can often get her into trouble. She likes to joke and make more comments than she keeps quiet, whether they're for her own personal enjoyment or for others. She can be quite sarcastic and most of her attitude runs right over Batman's head, which, at times, she finds herself giving up on getting him to smile, but eventually keeps trying. She enjoys laughter and a captive phrase, though not all of them stick well.
She is very kind and sweet, often caring for those around her more than she should under the surface. She can be very loving and affectionate, even a bit touchy-feely to her partner's dismay. Barbara would rather aid a friend in need, whether the best way is to spend time, eat ice cream, or kick some villain ass. She tries very hard to be there for those who need her and tries to be the more affectionate one of the Bat Family.
Babs is an excellent fighter and quite strategic with her assaults. She takes into account quite a lot during a fight, especially what drives the villain and, based on that, what they might do next. She tries very hard to be proper backup for her Bat Family, including being a distraction. Batgirl is very determined and strong-willed, one might also call her thick-headed for her bravery but she finds that if it gets the results she wants in order to help their cause, she doesn't care how idiotic it might seem at times.
Significant relationships
Bruce Wayne (Batman) - Fatherly figure. Barbara is not related to Batman, but very much sees him as a father-figure and mentor, more so inspirational in every aspect, despite her disgruntled attitude toward him now and again. She respects Batman to the utmost and wishes to learn more from him, though she has a hard time wanting to follow all of his rules as he wishes. She idolizes him very much so and holds him very high in her mind. Barbara has had the fleeting interest in a romantic relationship with Bruce Wayne, yet is not interested in a relationship with his alter ego, Batman. She wishes, like she wishes of Dick, to sever their alter egos from their romance and struggles with the both of them on this. She is interested in something romantic with Bruce, but is very frustrated that he can't sever his work from himself.
James Gordon (Commissioner Gordon) - James Gordon, as the famous Commissioner working with Batman, is Barbara's father. She is very close with her father, and, like Batman, idolizes him in her eyes. Though he is not a caped vigilante, he is a cop and one she sees as her own hero. She's a Daddy's girl and always has been, though that doesn't mean she doesn't sneak out and break the rules. She feels a bit overprotected by her father at times because of his law-abiding way of life and she is more sure of herself as a young woman to take care of herself. As a father and the Commissioner, James inspired Barbara greatly as to why he worked so diligently and in a career that was so dangerous to not only his own health, but the health and safety of his family. Along with her inspiration found in her father was much like Batman, and therefore the great catalyst that drove Barb to gain interest and determination toward criminal science, detective work, and crime fighting, along with a sense of good and evil.
Dick Grayson (Nightwing/Robin) - Partner, Friend, Romantic Interest. Dick has always been close with Barbara since the beginning, though they often tease one another in a sibling kind of way. Barbara has always had a soft spot for Dick and sometimes is too proud to admit it, but she will always fall back on him no matter what trouble she finds herself in. She has the same trouble with Batman as she does with Grayson, wishing that he could sever his work from his romantic life and, like she does with Bruce, gets very upset when Dick fails to do just that.
Alfred Pennyworth - (Not biological) Grandfather, looks up to him and cares very deeply for him as a loving Granddaughter would.
(Batwoman) - Like Robin is to Batman, Batgirl is to Batwoman. They work together closely and are very good partners fighting crime.
Helena Bertinelli (Huntress) - Helena is a special force that works for Oracle when she's behind the computer keeping things running, much like a 007 at her command.(Birds of Prey)
Cassandra Cain (Batgirl) - As Oracle: At first Oracle is very distrusting of Cassandra...like most of the family..sans Batman. But after a while, Barbara is like a big sister to Cassandra. She assists with teaching her how to read and write and ends up relying on her to help train Steph. When Cassandra returns, after leaving and giving up the batgirl mantle, Babara includes her in her most trusted friends, up there with Bruce and Nightwing.
(Lady Blackhawk) - Like Huntress, she works with Oracle and takes direction where she is best needed or can help out in an area.(Birds of Prey)
(Black Canary) - Is an agent for Oracle, part of the (Birds of Prey).
(Joker) - The villain that ended and started it all. Joker is not only a wealthy adversary for Batman, and with good reason, but he is also to blame for the worst moment in Barbara's life- the loss her of legs. No no, I'm not going to give it away, but Joker's act, paralyzing the heroine and therefore turning her down a new path and creating Oracle, Barbara's way of continuing her work against evil in the best way she can, with her superior intelligence and swift abilities with technology. After the incident, Oracle has developed a new found dark respect and hatred of the strange villain, practicing the rest of her encounters with other villains to be handled more carefully as she feels she might have underestimated the clown.
Harvey Dent (Two-Face) - At the age of 14, Barbara was first-hand witness to the depravity and destructiveness that a man could perform when the gun was aimed not at people her father told her about when he arrived home from a hard days work, but at her own family, and herself. Harvey, to get back at James Gordon in blaming him for the death of his beloved Rachel, desired to make Gordon feel the pain and fear of telling a loved one a lie even as they knew things wouldn't end as they'd hoped. She views Harvey as her first encounter with the evil that her father and Batman fought day to day. Barb views that night as a turning point in her mind, making her realize what rue fear felt like, and what watching a hero take care of that evil and save the good still left in the world was like. Having always taken an interest in her father's work, this night expedited that interest to a driven determination.

Barbara Gordon: Batgirl
"Barbara, how many times do I need to say it?" Her father raised his voice a little bit more, a wet dish in one hand and the wash cloth in the other. Barbara took a breath and let it out, finishing the her application and resume for her possible job with the precinct as Dispatch, aiding her with her business as Oracle for Batman.
"At least once more, Dad." she said softly. "As always." She picked up the brown canvas bag and slung it over her shoulder. She loved her father dearly, and she knew he loved her the same, but he had issues with worrying about her too much.
"That part of Gotham isn't safe, do you know how many homicides I've been out to over there?" Barbara mouthed the last part of his sentenced and nodded, already knowing where his argument would lead because it was where every argument led to. He was the city's police Commissioner, of course he worried for his own family's safety, and knowing just what happens in the city streets that his children roam wasn't helping. She was fascinated with what he did, usually finding any excuse she could to go to the Department and get involved how she could. And that was why she wasn't angry with her father. She loved him, she idolized him, and this was just Dad all over. And she couldn't argue that she was trained in the very self-defense that he and the department had taught her or that she'd taken mixed martial arts classes at every opportunity and was still enrolled- because he answered the same as he always had. He would argue that capable people get hurt, taken, or worse every day and he couldn't bare the sight of coming upon a crime scene and finding his daughter.
She stepped between his occupied hands and looked her father in the eyes, calm and reassuring. "Dad, I'm sorry that it worried you and I'll try to stay out of there a bit more, okay?" She smiled and tilted her head, her fall of red hair slipping over her shoulder and her layered bangs hanging out. She watched as James Gordon's features slowly softened as he looked down at his only daughter. He nodded slowly and she knew she had him. He sighed and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her close and talking in her ear.
"We love you, Babs," he said gently, his tone completely changed from only moments ago. "I just can't see anything happen to you, I need to come home from all the mess and know everyone here is safe and sound and happy."
She hugged him back tightly and smiled into his shoulder, squinting her eyes tightly and reveling in the most warm hug there was on planet Earth. "And we love you too, Dad, you're our hero out there making the city safe for us like Batman does." She couldn't help but slip in her favorite caped crusader, relating her father and the viglante, in her mind, as the same kind of hero.
"Oh," he answered gruffly, letting her go and already changing the subject away. "Your Dad's not a masked vigilante taking matters into his own hands." he started to dry the dish and faced the sink.
"A Daddy is always a girl's hero." She kissed his cheek and headed for the stairs to go to her room.
Oracle:
Barbara Gordon took a sip of the hot tea set down for her at the computer. She flicked a smile at the older Englishman, "Thanks, Alfred." He gave her a warm acknowledgement and left her to her work. He was such a good man, one of the best men she had the privledge of knowing, and it always seemed to give her an extra boost when working for hours at a time. The Wayne Penthouse was so quiet, empty and vacant more often than not due to her mentor's diligent hours. But it was home to her, and the silence was something she was beginning to find solace in. The only sounds she had were that of her dispatch scanners and radio calling out, the quiet hum of her personally-made computer towers and multiple flat screens spread out before her.
There was a cackle on the headset buried in her mass of red hair, the Gotham Police Captain asking for multiple units as backup on the East End of Midtown on a break in at the Dagget building. Barbara listened carefully for the rest of the details and switched her microphone on to the Dispatcher line.
"Dispatcher to all available units in the Midtown Vecinity, Unit 417 has requested backup to Dagget Industries, be advised, possible lethal force may be required." Her tone was flat and straight to the point, and as she tapped over the line, her mind wandered to her father. It didn't matter how many times she called for backup, or heard the scanner sound off, her thoughts always strayed to her father. How many more runs would he go on before something happened to him? Would the day ever come that she would have to hear his voice on the scanner in more panic than she could take? Just like he had always feared stumbling upon her body at a crime scene of some kind, Barbara now held a little bottle of fear in her heart that one day, she would have to call units to back up her father...and they wouldn't make it in time. "Dispatcher to Unit 417, backup is en route, proceede with caution." She flicked the mic off and began pulling up the cameras around the Dagget Industries as well as the security cameras inside. Of course, she trusted Batman, and knew that he would always look after James Gordon as much as he could, perhaps even slightly more than he should. But she knew that if it was Gordon's life, or the lives of Gotham...he would choose what was best for the City he protected.
The security feed ran up on the first four screens to her left, two of which had lost connection due to some unseen force, and the other two gave her chills. There was plant life crawling all over the Dagget's insides, vines and massive flowers and whole trees that would have taken years to grow. "I don't think Dagget has that great of a green thumb." she murmured to herself before turning the line over to Batman's personal frequency. "Batman, there's a situation going on at Dagget Industries, the GCPD was responding to the security alarms going off at the West Gate, and I just sent over requested back up. But there's nothing they have that can take care of the excess Flora and Fauna going on over there. I think your expertise is needed."
