Description
Appearance:
As Robin, Dick sported a barrage of red, yellow and green colors in his costume, a yellow cape flagged from his shoulders and a yellow insignia of R stamped on his left breast area. He also sported a lower hald that only covered the crotch area.
As Nightwing Dick had three versions of his costume.
The original costume was mostly blue with light blue gloves and boots.
The second was more advanced with a dark blue hue and gold boots and gloves, and trimmings on the neck. Each suit was made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and it's also electrically insulated. Instead of a black cape for stealthing, the suit is light sensitive, darkening when there is more light in the area.
The current costume, a stylized blue "wing" across his shoulders and extending to his hands, coloring his two middle fingers, over a black torso and legs. Nightwing's costume is tailored specifically to his unique style of crime-fighting. As such, his costume has fewer body-armor inlays than Batman's, anticipating a decreased need for shock-absorption and an increased capacity for motion. Should Nightwing need to engage an enemy who is capable of exploiting this weakness, he has supplemental body-armor overlays which he can attach to his gauntlets, mask, shoulders, and boots.
Recently he has begun using a new version of his costume. It appears to be the same basic design of the third, except the blue portions have been changed to red, and he now has spikes on the gauntlets similar to Batman's. The mask, in the form of his symbol, is fixed in place with spirit gum, and includes a built-in radio transmitter/receiver and Starlight night-vision goggles. His gauntlets and boots each contain eight compartments in which he can store items. They have a self-destruct feature built into them, similar to the ones in Batman's utility belt, and, as another security measure, the suit contains a one-use-only tazer charge, which automatically emits a high-voltage electrical shock when someone attempts to tamper with either the boots or gauntlets.
When out of uniform, Dick usually wears normal clothes, though comfortable looking articles such as Jackets, jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers. Typical clothes for Young Adults such as himself.
Personality: His cockiness and brash decision makings in the past has caused him to undergo numerous instances that shaped the man that he is now. Dick can be very hot headed, however through his years as Robin he has learned to become someone who can stand up for himself, and fend for the things and objectives he believes in. There are times that Dick acts very witty and humorously, added to that he can also be very flirtatious towards women he knows very well, and those he does not know well alike. Dick has a passion for his vigilante work, rooting from his training from Bruce Wayne causing him to form a desire to stop criminal and lunatics.
Significant relationships
(Husband, Wife, Girlfriend, Boyfriend, Father, Mother, Nemesis, Mentor, Partner, etc)
(Bruce Wayne) - Bruce is the fatherly figure of Dick after his parents had been killed in the circus. Bruce had taken him in for training and converting him into his sidekick, producing the student-master relationship that they both share. The two became what we know as the dynamic duo, Batman and Robin, Dick Grayson's time as Robin opened him up to a better, and brighter future, just as Bruce wanted it to be. As Robin, Dick has been through a couple of mental outbursts caused by trauma from the things he had been through, and through everything Bruce stood by him, strengthening not only their Student-Master relationship but more importantly their Father and Son. He was also greatly affected when Bruce had decided to take another robin under his wing (Jason Todd)
There are times, however that the two do not see eye-to-eye. Dick expresses a great gratitude towards Bruce for taking him in as a young orphaned child. Dick greatly idolizes his mentor, but is kept a secret for most of the time. He also has great respect for Bruce, seeing him as his mentor.
(Barbara Gordon) -Dick's longtime friend and love interest. They have had quite the series of adventures, loves, and diffuclties together. Both as a crime fighting team and romantically. They grew up together, learning how to fight crime as they grew into their capes. It started as a lot of teasing with one another, frustration mixed with jokes, which covered their deeper feelings. Even their first kiss was Barbs way of getting Dick to stop talking to much. Their relationship did grow into something deeper. But like many couples they had their struggles. Dick's sense of duty and responsiblity, their own dedication to their own fights, pulled them apart. Each had their own share of other loves, but dick still thinks there is something about Barbara. He will always be there for her and was there for her after she had gotten shot by the joker, even though she resisted due to her own struggles. If she was to call him in need, he would drop everything for her. He would defend her over all else. He still has a soft spot for barb, and still carrys a bit of hope that they can become more than friends again.
(Tim Drake) - A good friend of Dick Grayson and often referred to as his 'Little Brother.' However, Dick sees Tim as less of a sidekick and more of an equal. Dick also noted that he sees Tim as someone who has worked hard and earned the title of Robin very well.
(Damian Wayne) - The relationship between Dick and Damian has always been something that's up for debate, even with their time as Batman and Robin, the two lacked the Student-Master relationship Dick and Bruce had, mostly because Damian claimed that he would rather take his place as "Batman" if Dick was not up to it. At the early stages of their partnership, Damien had made it clear that he had no respect for Grayson. Grayson on the other hand treated him as his sidekick, thinking that he needed better polishing, before Damian would turn into someone like Jason.
(Jason Todd) - Dick had given Jason his blessing as soon as Todd became Robin, he also gave him the privilege of wearing Dick's original Robin costume. Knowing how cold Bruce can be, Dick had given Jason his number allowing him to call him whenever he needed a friend. Dick had been approachable to Jason during his turn at being Robin.
However when Jason had been resurrected, he had taunted Dick into joining him with his schemes, and Dick had refused because he saw things in a very different perspective, he had no intention on abiding by Jason's perception of crime-fighting.
(Alfred Pennyworth) - He considers Alfred as his third father, next to his real father and Bruce. He had learned to be more reformed in his ways through alfred. Alfred is another parental figure in Dick's life. Growing up in wayne manor and adjusting to such a new and challenging lifestlye, Alfred gave him the common sense and firm guidence that he needed at times. Dick still considers him to be quite wise and a good confident and turns to him at times for guidance.
(Teen Titans) - As Robin, Dick Grayson had stopped being under his mentor's custody and found himself leading a team of his own. The time of his leadership of the Titans he had evolved from a brash teenager to a decisive, serious, and confident leader, evolving towards becoming the man Bruce raised him to become.
(Koriand'r) - Dick Grayson's love interest. Their relationship started with Starfire kissing Dick in order for her to speak and absorb the English language, at which that point in time Dick had still been denying his feelings towards her. Eventually when Starfire's life had been threatened by Blackfire, Grayson was able to admit his feelings towards her eventually succumbing to loving her.
(Wally West) - Wally was one of those who had responded to the emergency in Hatton Corners, and eventually becoming one of Dick's closest friends in forming the Teen Titans
(Helena Bertinelli) - During an investigation of a murdered police officer, who was connected to the mafia, Dick and Helena formed a very brief romantic relationship, torn apart by constant odds with one another.
(Donna Troy) - Donna had become one of his teammates in the later stages of the Teen Titans. Donna was also one of Dick's partners during the new recruitment of the Justice League.
(Roy Harper) - Along with Donna, he had later on joined Dick in the formation of the Teen Titans.
(Joseph Wilson) - Jericho and Dick first met in a rescue mission to rescue the titans from his father, Slade Wilson. After which, Jericho had been allies with Dick for a time. With evil impulses in his body, Jericho had inhabited Dick's body in an attempt to escape the JLA.
(Roland Desmond) - As the second Blockbuster, Roland had destroyed many lives, and the most notable ones are those lives that Dick Grayson ha held dear, because of which he cause Dick so much anger and grief, almost driving him to the edge of his sanity. He was on of Dick's primary villains because he had been the one to drive Dick into near insanity and depression, causing Dick to plunge into one of the lowest points of his life. Roland also ran most of the criminal dealings in bludhaven, but would mostly be hindered by Nightwing.
(Catalina Flores) - Upon meeting her Dick had dismissed her due to the fact that he was not in approval of her extreme ways. She had manipulated an encounter with Dick in such a manner that Barbara Gordon, his girlfriend at the time, broke up with him. Also, she had killed Roland Desmond (Blockbuster) when Dick was at the lowest point of his life, after which he had been shook to his core, and Catalina took advantage of that and raped him. She had tried to form a relationship with Dick but fortunately before she could do so, he had regained his senses and had left. Dick sees her as someone who is very extreme and someone who pushes her limits as a vigilante, resulting in his disconnection towards her.
(Clark Kent) - Superman took Dick to the Fortress of Solitude and told him a history of a Kryptonian hero called Nightwing, who was cast out of his family and sought to prove he was better then any of them gave them credit for, a story that Dick felt he could relate to, causing him to take the name of Nightwing.
(The Joker) - When Dick was Robin, he had been shot by the Joker on the shoulder, causing Bruce to panic and cut his role as Robin short, and soon realizing that Dick was his own man now. He sees Joker as someone who would take anyone's lives for fun and chaos, greatly affected by Joker's actions of shooting Barbara Gordon, and killing Jason Todd. Though not on his rogue of villains, Joker has been a great adversary to Dick, ever since his time as Robin.
(Jean-Paul Valley) - Dick had been against Jean-Paul taking up the mantle of Batman, for he saw him as someone who is a killing machine and quite often Dick does not put his trust on him.
(Hush) - When Hush had been posing as Bruce Wayne, Dick had been keeping a constant observation, keeping him from completely destroying the Wayne Foundation.
(Slade Wilson) - After Slade had captured the Titans, Dick took on his role as Nightwing. Deathstroke is one of Dick's greatest opponents. Dick also infuriated Slade after training his daughter Rose with the same knowledge and rules that Dick lives by. Dick is familiar with Slade's morals of only doing his job by being hired, and sometimes exploits this knowledge.

Dick kicked at the rocks that were scattered across the graveled road he stood on. The moonlight shining against the curtain of the once well-renowned Circus that he grew up in. The scent of the air was nostalgic, as a wave of refreshing memories washed over the former flying Grayson. The circus was stationed in Gotham to breathe it's last hurrah before inevitably shutting itself down. He unraveled the first set of curtains as he entered the circus tent. His brown leather jacket seemed to blend with his environment inside the tent. He backed off a few inches to take in a better view of the place, although it was tattered and mostly left in dust, Dick still felt an intimate connection to the circus itself. He pictured a younger, twelve-year old persona of himself swinging across one podium to the next, high above the ground. Dick gave off a soft smile, seeing his parents stand by his younger self. As his mother and father swung across the tent like the pendulum, things took a dark twist. Both of Dick's parents had fallen off the handles and unto their impending doom. Dick seemingly unable to escape his visions, watched in terror as his younger self cried in fear and pain. Once the child had reached his mother and father, they had disappeared like smoke, returning Dick back into the old and wrecked circus tent. He wanted so badly to let off his emotions, but he was here for something important, and not to cry and jab at his emotions. He walked towards the middle of the podium, his sneakers stepping on the wooden planks, creating a creaking sound in every step he took. Dick kept his eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary, even if he knew no one would bother visiting an abandoned circus, he knew better than to let his guard down. A shifting against the curtain had alerted him of an incoming individual, from the sound of the shifts it was obvious it was someone who was inexperienced, and one who had a thin, and frail frame. A police officer, wearing the blue and black uniform entered the tent, flashlight in his hand, patrolling the city as a registered vigilante, far different from what Dick and Bruce were, and he respected that, in fact he respected anyone who would risk their lives for the sake of something, for the sake of anything, unfortunately he knew full well that both Gotham and Bludhaven were tinted with corrupted individuals.
"Sir, I don't think you're supposed to be in here." he spoke, with uncertainty in the tone of the officer's voice.
Dick shifted from his position, facing his structure against the police officer, "Sorry, I used to work here." he spoke in a mild and somewhat reassuring tone.
The officer had let his guard down, noticing Dick's neutrality. A move that would have been fatal to the officer had Dick been someone who were hostile. "This place must been important to you, were you a clown?" he asked Dick with a light hearted tone in his voice.
The young adult looked at the officer with a small chuckle that escaped his lips. "It is important." he replied, setting down the black backpack he had slung on his shoulder. "I was, something like that." he didn't want to give too much information away.
The officer nodded his head as he saluted to Dick, "I hope you have a good time here...I guess." he spoke as he scanned the area noticing the dust and tatters, it was quite obvious to him that no one would stay in a place like that for more than a few hours. He turned around and made his way outside the tent to continue his rounds.
As the officer had left Dick fished out a small device that was shaped like the eagle insignia he had stamped across the chest area of his costume. He pressed beneath the device and it flickered with a red LED light signaling that it was turned on.
Dick stomped on one of the wooden planks that was holding the podium together, and it creaked up like a seesaw. He attached the device underneath the plank and set it back down. For a moment he took a deep breath and enjoying the last remaining huffs of air he'd take from the circus he grew up in. He fiddled with his watch and pressed it near his lips "Oracle, it's Dick. I've planted the transmitter underneath the circus. I'm heading back to Bludhaven" he put his wrist down and hopped to a corner where vision was low, and immediately changed to his costume, leaving his backpack in a place where no one would find it, and if someone ever did, he made sure he wouldn't be traced. He ran outside, mentally saying his goodbye's before his grappling hook attached itself to the gutter of the nearest building, avoiding the street lights to keep himself in the dark, his red insignia glistened against the moonlight. One by one Dick traversed the rooftops with ease, as his watch, the only thing he did not leave in his previous backpack, began to buzz in his wrist. He somersaulted unto the next building before he pressed the button on his watch.
"Dick, Bruce needs to see you." Barbara spoke with an emergence in her tone of voice. "Now."
Nightwing turned around, shooting his hook at the opposite direction from where he was previously headed, a bit confused at the fact that he was needed once again by his mentor. Bruce can handle himself, right? He thought to himself, I guess it must be important. His arms tensed as he pulled himself to an incoming building. He pressed his watch against his mouth once again. "Alright, Hey you free tonight, Red?" he replied, trying to ease the tension away from his old friend. "Just Hurry up Grayson." she retaliated blatantly. "Yeesh, all work no play." He said finally, before shutting off the communicator in his watch. He wanted to stick around and flirt a bit more, but armed with the fact that someone like Bruce needed to see him, Dick figured that it must have been really serious of an emergency. Without stopping for any distractions, he rushed his way to Bruce, no second thoughts and no questions asked.
The rush, the air of Gotham, and Haly's circus, those were the things that reminded him so much of who he was, way before he was Nightwing, when he was Robin, and now that Bruce needed to see him made him feel like the Robin in him had been restored once again.
